The Political Science Department at Queens College serves
approximately 400 majors and enjoys a national reputation for excellence in undergraduate education and faculty research. In a typical semester, the department offers over 50 courses covering four subfields in political science.

The faculty at Queens College hails from internationally top-ranked programs. Faculty members are committed to both teaching and research; all full-time faculty teach introductory as well as advanced courses. Several members of the faculty have won university-wide teaching awards. Faculty combine their scholarly interests with their teaching expertise. In the last decade, faculty members have published over 72 books and 280 articles.

The undergraduate program in political science offers students flexibility as well as guidance as they choose a program that best fits their needs. Students may, but are not required, to select courses along curriculum tracks in Law and Politics and International Politics. All political science majors participate in a research seminar, a requirement that hones students' writing skills and encourages them to do serious scholarly work on a topic of interest.

The undergraduate program prepares students well for their future goals. Over half of Queens College political science majors go on to graduate study. Our internship program also provides practical experience to students, offering opportunities for students to explore possible career choices in the field.
